Apps built on Lovable now get almost a billion visits a month, and users start more than a million new projects on it every week. Anton Osika, CEO and co-founder of Lovable, told Arjun Kharpal, CNBC's senior technology correspondent, on The Tech Download that the gap between having an idea and running a business is closing fast. Most software founders still need engineers before they can launch; Anton is building a platform where the person with the idea does the building.

"The biggest reason I started was how many great ideas I see not being finished because of the lack of ability to take the technical leap, and that is now collapsing." — Anton Osika

Anton is widely credited with popularizing "vibe coding," and he founded Lovable in 2023. Its customers now include Deutsche Telekom, Adidas and Zendesk.

Anton is credited with popularizing "vibe coding," which means building software by describing it in plain English and refining what the AI produces. He told Arjun the term is already out of date.

Anton Osika says nearly every software developer now works with AI agents

"We're way past vibe coding. Everyone who is developing software today, almost everyone, is... using agents that are assisting them in what they're working on." — Anton Osika

Lovable was founded in 2023 and launched its platform the following year. It began as a tool for prompting an AI to build an app or a website.
