Peter Diamandis, founder of XPRIZE and an early investor in SpaceX, Tesla and Google, told Squawk on the Street he puts SpaceX's odds of reaching $1 trillion in revenue by 2028 or 2029 at 100%.

Most of the market still files SpaceX under rockets and satellites. Peter says it has become a superintelligence, communications and infrastructure company, with enough revenue and profit of its own to pay for the build-out.

"I think SpaceX becomes the first $10 trillion company, and then $100 trillion company." — Peter Diamandis

Peter has watched Musk's companies as a shareholder rather than from the outside, and he spoke right after SpaceX's earnings and Musk's comments on a possible merger with Tesla.

Key Takeaways

  • Peter backs a SpaceX-Tesla merger, a company built up and down the superintelligence stack

  • SpaceX has stopped being just a rocket company, in Peter's view

  • The bottleneck has moved from chips to energy and infrastructure

  • He gives SpaceX 100% odds of $1T in revenue by 2028 or 2029

  • Starlink traffic could rise 100 times as AI agents start talking to each other

  • The one risk he concedes is political, after the midterms or the next presidential election

1. The Case for a Merger

Peter told Carl Quintanilla and David Faber that he favors combining SpaceX and Tesla. With Tesla's Optimus robot and Cybercab in the mix, he described the result as a company built across the whole stack.

Peter Diamandis says a merged SpaceX and Tesla would span the whole superintelligence stack

"He's building a company that is integrated up and down the superintelligence stack." — Peter Diamandis

He does not think the money is what drives Musk.

Peter Diamandis says Musk is driven by problems to solve, not by wealth

"He's not driven by wealth. He's driven by where the problems that the planet has that need to get solved." — Peter Diamandis
